Where Craft meets Technology
From new, complicated design freedom, to improving traditional processes for jewellery production, to direct metal manufacturing (in the process eliminating many of the traditional steps) 3D printing has had a colossal impact on the jewellery sector! Customization, which was once a complicated, expensive idea is no more just a part of one’s imagination. Complex, light-weight jewelry is manufactured as a single piece in wax, resin or metal with minimal need for post production or human intervention. A boon for jewelry industry with a potential to make product development faster and cheaper to iterate, 3D printing has also opened up a whole new world of shapes and formations that are cost-prohibitive and impossible to make using traditional method
One among the most widely used manufacturing methods is the Investment or Lost Wax casting. The process includes pouring molten metal into a mold. Making of the mold involves using a wax pattern in the exact shape of desired part. The pattern is ‘invested’ into a slurry that hardens in the mold. When the wax pattern is melted out from the mold, molten metal is poured which takes the exact shape of melted pattern. The material is then allowed to settle for some time and cured after the mold is broken and output obtained. Investment casting is preferred over other manufacturing techniques when the parts are complex and needs to be intricate. It can be done in a wide variety of metals including Gold, Silver, Brass, Bronze, Aluminum, Stainless steel alloys etc.
From Precious metals like Gold and Silver to Brass, Bronze, Plastics, wax, and polymer resins used for jewellery prototyping, Imaginarium works with over 140 materials to facilitate makers in creating a whole new world of inventive products and designs.
With over two decades of experience in jewelry making, Imaginarium specializes in customized plating and finishing services. Be it enameling, gold or silver plating, or polishing, our state of the art infrastructure enables us to produce a plethora of appearances, colors, and textures,. you need to make a statement piece.
Imaginarium’s online platform enhances the process of inventory-less manufacturing and empowers designers and retailers to create digitally crafted pieces with no minimum order quantity involved. With a factory-in-your-browser approach this platform makes way for designers/retailers to securely upload designs, select a material, receive an instant quote, and have the product delivered at their doorstep.
